Sailability Form for New Participants – Sailability Sessions – registration 2024
Saturday Sessions
Time: 10:30 to 12:30 Cost: £6 donation (carer goes free)
These sessions are open to anyone with any form of disability or additional support need, as well as their friends, family and carers.
Sessions are £6 per participant (minimum suggested donation) carers go free. Family members and friends are able to join in, however priority must be given to those with a disability – donation for their attendance is welcomed! We offer Sailing, Powerboat River Trips and Paddling.
Sailability
Those who want to sail but are nervous of sailing on their own, we can offer support and will endeavour to provide an instructor or experienced sailor to accompany them. We use the access dinghies (see left) for independent sailing and have dinghies which have the option to be fitted with electric hand controls for those who have little strength or mobility in their upper limbs.

If you want to sail as part of a group we also have the ‘Drascombe Lugger’ or the ‘Devon Day’ (see lower right), which are traditional wooden sailing boats.
Powerability
The safety boats are on hand, but our accessible powerboats will be used to take people on trips around the harbour. Our powerboats are wheelchair accessible so there is no necessity to transfer from your wheelchair. There will be two trips: 10:30 and 11:30. Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes before the boat trip as the boat cannot wait.

Paddleability
Paddling will be on offer every week on Saturdays. We have a sit-in-kayak with stabiliser, sit-on-top kayaks, Canadian Canoes, Katakanu and Bellboat on offer.

Time: 10am to 3pm Cost: £6 donation (carer goes free)
These sessions are on Tuesdays during term time from 10 am to 3pm from Easter to October. These are book only sessions, where we need to agree to a time prior to the day. To book, please call 0754 669 6091. This session is more suitable for young participants and sailors who are on the Autistic Spectrum or have Learning Difficulties, thus require a calmer environment and a high ratio of volunteer support than the Saturday session.
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy powerboat trips. On occasion we can offer sailing though this depends on Instructor availability. Please enquire if you would like to sail on a specific date.
Please complete the Sailability Form and email it to [email protected] or bring it with you on your first session. The session costs just £6 (carers go free). There is no need to book, you can drop in for this session. However, if you cannot attend this time on Tuesday please e-mail us, and we will to our best to accommodate you.
