Things to be aware of for Powerability:
- Please specify if you have a particular powerboat you wish to go on, when booking.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early for your powerboat trips as the boat will leave no later than 5 minutes passed its departure time.
- If you do not pre-book and turn up on the day, although we will try our best, we cannot promise you will go out on the water, and there may be a long wait.
- Powerboating is weather dependent and we reserve the right to cancel at any time if we consider the conditions are unsuitable.
- Please bring as carer if you require personal care assistance.
Saturday Sessions
Accessible Powerboating is run by experienced and qualified volunteers. These Saturday morning sessions are designed to enable people with additional support needs to access powerboating and to experience the joy of being out on the water.
Most of the boats we use are fully wheelchair accessible. Please specify if you require this option when booking. We will run powerboat harbour trips at 10:30am and again at 11:30 am. Please arrive 10 minutes early as the boat will leave no later than 5 minutes passed its departure time. This is to accommodate clients who find waiting difficult, and ensures everyone gets the full time of the powerboat trip. Numbers are limited so we would ask you to book in advance by emailing [email protected].
We also offer to to teach the RYA Powerability Scheme – an adapted version of the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course which can be adapted to specific needs and delivered at the students own pace. Special consideration to organise a instructor for you will be needed so please give as much notice as possible if this scheme interest you.
Please complete the participants form and bring it with you.
We run most Saturday mornings from April to October (see dates below) and we run from the quayside outside the Cottage Pub next to All Aboard. On arrival please make your way to the desk beside the flagpole and one our our volunteers will welcome you. Our centre is fully accessible, for details please CLICK HERE.
All our volunteers are fully trained in First Aid, Disability Awareness, Safeguarding and have a valid DBS certificate. They are all passionate about giving you a good time and supporting you on your Watersports journey.
There is a requested donation of £8 for clients with carers going for free. Siblings are welcome, a donation for their attendance would be gratefully received.
