Paddleability Sessions

Saturday Sessions

We are delighted to be able to offer weekly Paddleability sessions from April to October, where we can offer adapted paddling in canoes, kayaks and Katakanu’s. These sessions and adapted equipment for accessible paddling has been  are currently funded by British Canoeing’s Together Stronger Fund.

Four participants independently paddling the Katakanu

Katakanu’s are very stable tandem canoes, perfect for beginners and those wanting to paddle as a group (see photo to left).

We also offer paddling in Sit-on-top kayaks and Canadian canoes. We do have a sit in kayak with stabilisers for those who find balance challenging. We have wrist straps to support grips, cushions and wedges for support and have recently received a versa paddle which holds the paddle for those with shoulder weakness or the use of one hand. The dates we can offer kayaking and canoeing are below, any other weekend between April and October we can offer Katakanuing.

Paddleability sessions will run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and will need to be booked in advance by emailing [email protected].

There is a suggested donation of £8 per participant to help with the costs of running theses sessions. Carers will go free. Siblings are welcome, a donation for their attendance is gratefully received.

Our centre is fully accessible, for more information please CLICK HERE.

All our volunteers are fully trained in First Aid, Disability Awareness, Safeguarding and have a valid DBS certificate. They are all passionate about giving you a good time and supporting you on your paddling journey.

Please bring a carer if you require personal care support. We recommend you organise transport before arrival.
