Swimming

**Following the outbreak of avian botulism, we have been asked by DEFRA and the Harbour Master to refrain from running the Harbour swims to give the wildlife a chance to recover until further notice.

We are hopeful of being able to run swims soon.

The risk to human health is considered very low because Type C avian botulism has not been linked to human disease.**

Our Swimming in the Harbour runs on the majority of Sundays across the year and throughout August and September we will be running Wednesday evenings swims

  • Summer Swimming runs nearly every Sunday from May until the end of September.
  • Throughout August and September we will be running early evening swims
  • Winter Swimming runs on the first Sunday of the month.

You will need a towfloat and brightly coloured swim hat, if you don’t have them we have them available for hire and to buy (cash preferred). Last entry is at 10.15am irrespective of which morning session you book onto and 6.15pm for the evening sessions.

The latest water quality results can be found here.  Anything under 500 counts per 100ml is deemed as ‘excellent’.
