The certificates within the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme are a significant achievement. Instructors sign off each skill as you complete it and once completed your certificate can be of use in other areas of your study or activities such as PE at school, or the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

During the RYA Youth Stage 4 course you will sail a double handed boat as crew or helm and solve a variety of problems afloat (optional if Stage 3 was taken in a double hander).

The course includes rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques and manoeuvres in crewed boats, and recovering a man overboard.

After the course you will be able to launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, and sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions.

If you are interested in racing then you should consider joining our Junior Race Squad, which meets on a Saturday morning throughout the year. Click here to learn more.

Please note: two days is the minimum time required to complete the course. The actual time required depends on ability and weather conditions on the day. A certificate will only be issued if you have demonstrated the ability to complete the syllabus in appropriate weather conditions.  Our after-school and holiday clubs provide the perfect opportunity to fine-tune your skills.

All-Aboard is a fully inclusive watersports charity that welcomes everyone. Our activity centre and our entire activity programme is designed with accessibility at its core. If you have any additional needs or requirements and would like to discuss accessing any of our activities or courses, please call our admin team on 0117 929 0801 or click HERE for more information on our specific accessibility programme.
