The certificates within the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme are a significant achievement. Instructors sign off each skill as you complete it and once completed your certificate can be of use in other areas of your study or activities such as PE at school, or the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
This RYA Youth Stage 2 course will give you a range of sailing skills and knowledge to help you to become a more confident sailor. The course includes basic sailing skills, ropework, and collision avoidance. After the course you will be able to tack, control boat speed and understand the basic principles of sailing.
If you are interested in racing then you should consider joining our Junior Race Squad, which meets on a Saturday morning throughout the year. Click here to learn more.
Please note: two days is the minimum time required to complete the course. The actual time required depends on ability and weather conditions on the day. A certificate will only be issued if you have demonstrated the ability to complete the syllabus in appropriate weather conditions. If needed, please speak to the office about organising an extra session to complete the course.
