Become a fully qualified RYA Dingy Instructor with us here at All-Aboard Watersports. The course runs over five days and will provide training in teaching techniques, both afloat and ashore.

It will be run by an approved RYA Coach/Assessor and moderated on the final day by another RYA Coach/Assessor who has not been involved in candidates training.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate competence in course preparation, delivery and management as well as customer liaison.

On completion of the course, instructors will be qualified specifically to teach on either dinghies, small keelboats or multihulls depending on their course and experience*.   With All-Aboard being a fully accessible centre we can offer you a unique opportunity to gain this qualification using a wide range of boats, including accessible sailing boats.

Your certificate will be valid for five years from the date of issue, provided that a valid first aid certificate is maintained. Please note, instructors at this level are not assessed as competent to run a training centre and should always work under the supervision of an RYA Senior Instructor.

Course pre-requisites

  • RYA Safe and Fun certificate
  • In date First Aid certificate
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • Pre-course work set by the Instructor

Any internal candidates should contact the centre before booking onto this course as you will receive a discount on the price. All candidates must purchase a G14 Dinghy Instructor Handbook which will take them through all of the RYA Instructor courses. Click HERE to purchase from us.

* Candidates who complete their instructor course in dinghies, but who want to teach in small keelboats or multihulls should obtain the relevant endorsement. Endorsement courses are run over two days by Coach/Assessors with the relevant experience, who have been appointed by the RYA.
