All-Aboard and Link Age are delighted to announce their new project to encourage more people down to Baltic Wharf to access watersports.
Come down and try rowing sailing and Canoeing, then if you like it, sign up to our regular sessions
All-Aboard Bristol is set to help more local people get into sport thanks to £89,944 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund. All-Aboard! Watersports is among 88 projects to receive a share of £15 million of funding to support grassroots sport activity across the country.
The All-Aboard! Bristol project was set up by All-Aboard Watersports Centre in partnership with the Royal Yachting Association, Canoe England, British Rowing, LinkAge and Bristol City Council, in response to a need for more accessible opportunities to row, sail, canoe or power boat for families and older people aged 55+.
The funding will allow the centre to develop a new programme designed to encourage older people and families from disadvantaged communities to try a new sports that they may not have thought about doing before, learn new skills, meet new people and hopefully have a lot of fun! Weekly ‘come and try’ sessions will be offered Wednesdays over the next year.
Mike Diaper, Sport England Director of Community Sport, said: “It’s great to be working with innovative projects, like All-Aboard! Bristol to offer people the chance to get into sport in a way that best suits them.
“The investment being made through the Community Sport Activation Fund is making a real difference at a very local level. I’m particularly pleased that more than half the funding is going into projects in deprived areas, helping more people develop a lifelong sporting habit.”
N.B. Unfortunately this funding has now come to an end. However, All-Aboard have been awarded some new funding where all adults aged over 18 years can attend our new CSAF Thursday Taster sessions. The idea of these sessions is to welcome and introduce new customers onto the water to try Sailing, Rowing or Canoeing in these Taster sessions. Once skills have developed you will be able to attend our Open Rowing sessions, where you can row wit others of a similar ability to you on a weekly basis. We will keep you informed when our new CSAF sessions are launching.
